Horseshoes

My brother-in-law introduced us to this recipe several months ago.  My sister and brother-in-law had this at a friend's house and made it for us a couple of days later.  I have since made it a number of times because we love it, too!  It's loaded with calories, fat and cholesterol, so don't expect a healthy meal with this one!  I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

1 bag waffle fries (or your favorite type of french fry)
4 slices Texas Toast (or 4 slices garlic bread)
4 hamburger patties, seasoned to your taste
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cup milk
2-3 cups cheese (I used Kraft Three Cheese with a Touch of Philly)
Dash of hot sauce

Begin by patting out hamburger patties and seasoning to your liking.  I use garlic salt, Montreal steak seasoning and worcestershire to season my patties.  Fry or grill your patties.

While burgers are cooking, place fries in the oven and bake according to directions on the bag.

Meanwhile, heat 2 tbsps. butter in medium saucepan over medium heat.  Whisk in 2 tbsps. flour.  Allow to cook for 2-3 minutes, then add milk.   Continue to heat over medium heat until sauce thickens and mixture begins to bubble, whisking frequently, approximately 10 minutes.  Add cheese and stir to melt.  You can use any type of cheese that you like--cheddar, monterey jack, etc.  This cheese sauce is very versatile and can be used in a number of recipes.  Remove from heat and add hot sauce to taste.

Once fries are done, heat Texas Toast in oven according to package directions.

To build your horseshoes:
Top 1 slice of Texas Toast with a hamburger patty.  Place waffle fries on top of burger.  Pour cheese on top.  Enjoy!
